Use your own domain for your store

Choose Store settings, then Domains.

Who can do this: You need to be an owner or admin to do this.

Every store has one, at no cost, on shop.tuppence.ai followed by your store’s name. To change the name, choose Change the name in your address: 3 to 40 letters, numbers and dashes. The old address keeps working for 90 days, so links you’ve already shared don’t break.

  1. Under Your own domain, type the domain, such as www.yourshop.co.uk, and choose Use this domain.
  2. You’re shown two records, each with a name and a value to copy. Add both at the company that manages your domain’s DNS: usually where you bought the domain, or your web host.
  3. Come back and choose Check now, or leave it: we check every ten minutes. It can take a few hours for the records to show.

Once the records are found, the status moves from Waiting for your DNS records to Setting up the certificate, then Live. We set up and renew the certificate that makes your store’s address secure; there’s nothing to buy.

If your domain without the www should open your store too, the page shows how to forward it to your store.

To go back to the free address, choose Stop using this domain.

Send your store’s emails from your domain

Section titled “Send your store’s emails from your domain”

Until you add one, your store’s emails to shoppers go from Tuppence in your business’s name. To send them from your own domain, choose Store settings, then Email.

Who can do this: You need to be an owner, admin or manager to do this.

  1. Under Domain to send from, type the domain and choose Use this domain. A subdomain such as mail.yourshop.com leaves your own email untouched.
  2. You’re shown three records: Return path, SPF and DKIM. Add each, with the name and value shown, at the company that manages your domain’s DNS.
  3. Come back and choose Check now, or leave it: we check every 10 minutes for 72 hours.

If a record is missing or has a different value, the page names it. After 72 hours the status shows Not verified: fix the record, then choose Check now. A DMARC record is optional, but it helps your emails reach inboxes.

Once the status is Verified, your store’s emails go from shop@ at your domain, in your business’s name. While a new domain builds its reputation, it sends up to 500 emails a day in its first week, doubling each week. Over that, a receipt goes from Tuppence in your name, and a campaign sends the rest the next day.

To go back to sending from Tuppence, choose Remove.

When you move your store, keep your domain pointing at the old platform until your new store is ready. Then change the records as above. Your old product and page addresses are sent on to the new ones, so search results and saved links keep working.

Domains are never changed by the Tuppence Assistant or by AI agents. Only a person can connect or remove a domain, or a domain to send from, here in the dashboard. The assistant and agents can see where your store’s emails come from, how each record stands and today’s sending limit.
