Take a card payment by QR

Tuppence doesn’t connect to card readers yet. With Card by QR, the customer pays on their own phone.

1. Tap Charge, then Card by QR.
2. If the register asks for tips, hand the device to the customer to choose. See Ask for tips at the till.
3. Tap Show the QR for and the amount, for example Show the QR for £12.50$12.50€12.50.
4. The customer scans the code with their phone’s camera and pays.
5. Wait. The till updates when the payment goes through.
6. Tap No receipt, next sale.

The payment appears in Payments in the dashboard like any other card payment.

If it doesn’t go through

• If the card is refused, the till says so. Show a new QR, or take cash.
• To stop waiting, tap Cancel the card. To switch, tap Take cash instead.
• While a card payment is waiting on the customer’s phone, you can’t take another. Wait for it or cancel it.
