Get started with Tuppence

Tuppence starts in test mode, so you can try everything straight away with no real money. When you’re ready, a short verification switches on live payments.

Create your account

1. Go to the sign-up page and choose Create account, or Continue with Google.
2. Enter Your name, Email and a Password of at least 10 characters.
3. Under Tell us about your business, enter the Business name and choose the Country where the business is registered. It sets your currency and can’t change later.
4. Choose Continue.
5. Under How will you use Tuppence?, choose where your customers pay you (Online, In person or Both), then tick what you sell, such as Software or subscriptions or Appointments or classes. Your answers decide which sidebar sections show first. Nothing is switched off, and every business gets Cards and Developers. If you’re not sure, choose Something else, or not sure? or Skip for now to see everything.
6. Choose Create business. Your dashboard opens in test mode.
7. Confirm your address from the email we send you. The link works for 48 hours. If the email hasn’t arrived, choose Send it again in the reminder banner.

Tuppence works for businesses registered in the UK and the US.

Try it in test mode

In test mode, a banner says Test mode. No real money moves. Use the Get started checklist on Home to take a test payment.

To switch between test and live, use Mode at the bottom of the sidebar. Live stays greyed out until your account is verified.

Go live

1. On Home, choose Go live, then Start. It takes about ten minutes.
2. Work through each step: Your business, People, Payout bank account, Secure your account (optional), Review and agree, then Verify your identity with a quick ID and selfie check.
3. Wait for the checks. Most take a few minutes, some a day or two. We email you when live payments are on.

Note

Only the account owner can add the payout bank account, accept the terms and finish verification. An admin can fill in the other steps.
