Use the till on a tablet
The till runs in the Tuppence app. On an iPad, the products fill the left of the screen and the sale stays on the right, so the total and Charge are always in view.

Section titled “What you need”| Device | What it needs |
|---|---|
| iPhone | iOS 16.4 or later, with the Tuppence app |
| iPad | iPadOS 16.4 or later, with the Tuppence app |

- In the dashboard, choose Registers, then New register, and finish with Make the register.
- On the iPad, install the app and sign in.
- Pair the iPad to the register from the Till tab.
- To keep the iPad for selling only, leave Use this device only as a till on. See Make a dedicated till.

Selling
Section titled “Selling”- Under Who’s selling?, enter your till PIN and tap Sign in.
- Tap products to add them to the sale, or search with Name, SKU or shelf.
- Tap Charge and choose how they pay: Cash, Card by QR, or Other.
For more on taking payment, see Sell at the till.
- Card by QR shows a QR code. Your customer scans it and pays on their phone. The till updates when the payment goes through.
- Other, then Another card machine, records a card taken on a machine you already have, so your till and reports stay right.
- Taking cash needs an open shift. Open one from Shift and cash-up.
On an iPad, the header also has buttons for the shift and held orders. The menu at the top left has Shift and cash-up, Held orders and Switch person.
Use the iPad upright or on its side. In Split View, a narrow till uses the phone layout.
When the till asks for a PIN again
Section titled “When the till asks for a PIN again”When nobody has used it for a while, the till asks for a PIN again. Set how long under Lock after (minutes) on the register in the dashboard.
