Translate your store
Your store can show its product pages in the other languages your customers speak. Your customers’ languages come from your business’s country. A store in the UK or the US has English only, so there’s nothing to translate yet.
Who can do this: You need to be an owner, admin or manager to do this.
Draft and approve a language
Section titled “Draft and approve a language”- Choose Store settings, then the Translations tab.
- If your customers speak more than one other language, choose the Language.
- Choose Draft with the language’s name, such as Draft French. The assistant translates each product’s title and description in your brand voice.
- Read each translation beside its English.
- Choose Approve with the language’s name. Before anything is approved, each translation is read back into English and checked against your product’s facts.
If a translation makes a claim your product’s facts don’t back, such as organic with no certificate on file, nothing is approved. The message names the claim, and Fix it on the product opens the product’s facts. Add the fact, or draft the language again, then approve.
What shoppers see
Section titled “What shoppers see”Once you approve a language, shoppers see your product pages in it at your store’s address with
the language after it, such as /fr/ for French. Search engines are told about each language, so
shoppers find the page in their own.
When you change a product’s English, its translation is Out of date and shoppers see the English until you draft and approve it again. Your policies stay in English, with a line in the shopper’s language saying the English version applies.
