Set up tax at the till

Your till starts with your country’s tax rates and classes. Tuppence charges what you set here and never decides a rate for you. Check them with your accountant before you sell.

Who can do this: You need to be an owner, admin or manager to do this.

A developer or analyst can see the tax settings but can’t change them.

  1. Choose Products, then the Tax tab.
  2. If you have more than one, pick the Location.
  3. Under How this location prices, choose your settings (below).
  4. Choose Save settings.
  • Prices include tax: when on, the price is what the customer pays, as in the UK and Europe. When off, tax is added at the till, as in the US and Canada.
  • Rounding: round tax on Each line, then added up, or Once, on the total.
  • Round halves: how a half penny is rounded.
  • Cash rounding: for places where cash is rounded to the nearest 5 or 10 cents. It never applies to cards. If you don’t round cash, leave it on None (to the penny).
  • Default tax class: the class for products that don’t name one.
  • Province or state: in Canada or the US, this sets up the region’s rates and classes.
