Make a dedicated till
A dedicated till opens straight into the till and stays there, so a shared tablet on the counter is safe. Only the person signed in to Tuppence on it can leave, with Face ID.
Who can do this: You need to be an owner, admin or manager to do this.
Set it up
Section titled “Set it up”- Pair the tablet to a register.
- When pairing, leave Use this device only as a till on. It’s on by default for an iPad and off for an iPhone.
- Each person who serves signs in with their till PIN.
To change it later, tick or untick Dedicated till beside the device on the Devices page.
Leave the till
Section titled “Leave the till”- Tap the menu at the top left of the till.
- Tap Leave the till.
- Confirm with Face ID.
If Face ID isn’t set up, or you’re not the person signed in, tap Sign out and leave. You’ll need the password to sign back in. A till PIN never lets anyone leave the till.
On a device that isn’t dedicated, the menu shows Back to the app instead.
Lock the iPad to Tuppence
Section titled “Lock the iPad to Tuppence”A dedicated till can’t stop the home gesture or the app switcher. The iPad’s Guided Access can.
- In the iPad’s Settings, choose Accessibility, then Guided Access, and turn it on.
- Under Passcode Settings, set a passcode only managers know.
- Open Tuppence and triple-click the top (or home) button, then tap Start.
To end it, triple-click again and enter that passcode.
