How Tuppence cards work
Tuppence cards are payment cards issued to your business on Stripe Issuing, with limits and rules you set. Use them for your business’s own spending, or give them to your agents (the software that works for you).
The pieces
Section titled “The pieces”- Virtual cards. Your business’s own, or an agent’s. A card can be for ongoing spending up to a daily limit, or for one purchase at one merchant.
- Agents. Optional. Each agent can have its own cards and rules. A disabled agent gets no new cards.
- Your card. A physical card for you. One per person, never an agent’s.
- The cardholder. Cards are issued to a person who answers for them: the owner or admin who sets cards up.
- What the cards can spend. Cards spend from their own balance, separate from the money customers pay you. You top it up by bank transfer.
- Spending rules. How much, where, and when a person must approve first.
- Approvals. Purchases that need a person’s yes wait on the Cards page and in the app.
Card spend earns cashback. Holding a card doesn’t change what your payments cost.
Where to find them
Section titled “Where to find them”- On the dashboard, everything is on the Cards page. Choose an agent or a card to see more.
- In the app, the Cards tab shows your cards, and Approvals shows purchases waiting for a decision. You can freeze a card and change its daily limit there. Issue cards and set rules on the dashboard.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”- Switch cards on for your business.
- Hold the cards as the cardholder.
- Top up what the cards can spend.
